Managing the New Workplace: Training for Supervising the New Workforce

Employers, is it important for your supervisors to know how to manage a work environment where not everyone is the same? Differences of race, age, class, gender, religion, language, and culture cannot be isolated from today’s workplace. Supervisors are the first line of employee interaction. They are responsible for creating an employee’s sense of ownership in the organization’s goals, and a sense of commitment to the company. This can be a particularly daunting challenge if the workers are foreign-born, “nontraditional” or minority, or new to the workforce.

The proven successful Success Academy curriculum has received rave reviews from the company supervisors who have taken it. References available upon request. The training is built around successfully managing employees in a diverse workplace.

The curriculum is available in one day or as two individual four-hour modules.

Job Coaching

Are your new sector employees letting non-job issues impact their job attendance or performance? Are these workers facing obstacles that prevent them from being the kind of worker you want or causing friction with other employees or supervisors?

You need access to an on-site Job Coach who can address their issues and help them craft solutions that work for their life and work for you in improving their work performance.

Family issues, child care, transportation, legal hassles, workplace etiquette and a multitude of problems once thought to be outside the involvement of the employer are now critical barriers to new sector employees becoming committed and productive employees.

The use of a job coach is similar to company Employee Assistance Plans (EAP) except it provides a non-clinical range of support that complements traditional EAPs.

A Job Coach is able to develop an employee needs assessment, connect the employee with a wide range of community and government services and individually coach the employee in work related soft skills that will allow them to focus on the job and be better prepared to have the tools and skills and attitude to become a productive part of your business.

Job Coaches are available hourly to assist troubled employees or as part of an on-call resource for a wide number of employees.

Online Computer Learning Lab

Adult Basic Education

If your employees need help with basic math, reading, writing, business English, or even workplace etiquette skills to more quickly become effective workers for your company, then access to the Plato Learning Library is exactly what you and they need.

The Plato Adult Basic Education Learning Library includes Reading and Writing (Grades K-13/14); Math (Grades K-13/14); Science (Grades 6-13/14); Social Studies (Grades 7-12); GED Preparation; Life Skills; Job Skills; and Business Basics. The courses are specifically designed for adults who may need elementary, junior or senior high school remedial work.

This interactive software breaks the curriculum into dozens of specific courses and each course into a series of modules that allows learning to fit the pace of the employee. Most courses include worksheets, drills and tests. Online access is available not only at your worksite but to any computer your employee has access to.

English as a Second Language

If your employees need help with understanding and speaking English to more effectively follow directions, communicate with supervisors, customers, and other employees, English language training can easily and inexpensively be delivered directly at your work site. Increased morale, safety, productivity, and retention rates will follow.

The award winning Rosetta Stone program - English as a Second Language - is a highly interactive software using reading, writing, listening, and speaking to move an employee from no English through to good conversational English relatively easily and quickly.

Book I and Book II modules allow the employee to place themselves in the study of English at whatever point they currently have attained and then progress from there.
